content management systems
A must for all modern websites – a content management system (CMS) puts you in control.
A CMS provides the tools you need to manage, edit and update your own content.
As a web developer, I can build your website using a CMS that has been chosen and customised to meet your specific needs.
The perfect system for you might be anywhere from a simple ‘on-the-page’ editing feature where you can edit the text of a chosen paragraph, to a complex back-end system that allows you to control all aspects of your website including creating new pages, assigning user access, managing products, etc.

in-house v’s open-source
I always use
‘tried & tested’ open-source solutions that have a large user-base and online support systems.
Are you wondering ‘should I select a developer that has their own in-house CMS?’ I would advise you against this!
In-house CMS products are commonly ‘set-in-stone’ and non-customisable – which might be fine if you want your website to function in much the same way as every other site developed using that CMS but, more than likely, it will end up being very frustrating when you find you can’t make your website do what you want it to do.
In-house code can also be proprietary – that is, it may not use current industry standards & best practices and, therefore, can be difficult to integrate with other solutions.
Open-source CMS solutions are continually being refined and expanded by an international community of developers. By choosing to use open-source code, I get to spend my valuable time creating specific features for your project, rather than wasting time trying to ensure that in-house code is kept up-to-date with all the latest technologies & trends.
The best thing about an open-source content management system is that it’s fully customisable to suit anybody’s needs – I can make it do exactly what you want it to do!
