about
m’khala is a freelance business owned and operated by Michaela Stephens.
Having worked with ‘the web’ while the Internet was still developing into a world-wide phenomenon, Michaela has seen web design tools grow from clunky Perl scripts and primitive page viewers into massive, dynamic applications running on all flavours of platforms.
Manager, analyst, designer, editor, programmer, developer, desktopper … Michaela is the sole trader behind m’khala (some might call her a ‘jack of all trades’) and she is always on the lookout for a new and unique challenge.
Michaela has extensive experience in both print and web publishing. She started her career in January 1995 as a desktop publisher and, since then, has worked as a graphic designer, web designer, web developer, programmer and systems administrator.
Her expertise in visual design (both print and web based), information architecture, human-computer interface design and web applications programming forms a sturdy foundation for her freelance business.
Michaela's tertiary education includes:
- a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology – completed 2006, Queensland University of Technology
- an Associate Diploma of Art in Commercial Art – completed 1995, Queensland College of Art, Griffith University
- a Bachelor of Science with Honours – completed 1991, University of Wollongong.
Michaela’s background in analytical thinking compliments her creative abilities – she possesses a great eye for detail and applies a logical approach to problem solving.
