web projects
Following are examples of some of the web-based projects that have been completed by Michaela in her role as a freelance developer. Please refer to Michaela'a resume for details of other projects completed prior to her leaving full-time employment.
OHS Documents Australia
A flexible-width, content-managed website which I designed and produced for OHS Documents Australia.
I developed the online store for this site from scratch to meet the exact needs of the client. The store was written as a custom module for the TYPOlight content management system.
Development of this site included:
- flexible-width page layout
- logo design and development
- header area contains 4 sliding images that are overlayed on top of each other
- CMS managed using TYPOlight
- includes an online store and shopping cart with PayPal, PayMate & Direct Deposit payment options integrated
- 5 main content areas – total number of pages variable depending on available products
- member registration and login to secure area with member-only functions
- search engine optimisation (except content which was supplied by client)
Dala Artists Group
A work in progress – this is a website that I designed and developed for the Dala Artists Group to support their RADF funded project.
The site is currently being hosted on a sub-domain of m'khala but will shortly be moving to its own domain. The new site will be managed using Contao and will provide an online presence for individual members of the group.
Development of this site included:
- fixed width page layout with simple graphical elements
- not currently managed in a CMS
- all XHTML & CSS hand-coded using BBEdit
- 3 main content areas – 6 pages in total
Amazink & Create Online
A flexible-width design that I converted into standards-compliant XHTML and CSS2 from client-supplied Adobe Illustrator mockups.
Development of this site included:
- flexible width page layout with simple background graphics
- CMS managed using TYPOlight
- 5 main content areas – 27 pages in total
- note: does not include visual design (design concept supplied by client)
Gena Apartments
A fixed-width design that I converted into standards-compliant XHTML and CSS2 from client-supplied Adobe Illustrator mockups.
Development of this site included:
Urban Water Forum
A dynamic width, content-managed website which I designed and produced for the (unfortunately short-lived) Urban Water Forum. This website is no longer live.
Development of this site included:
- logo design and construction
- implementation and customisation of an open-source content management system (TYPOlight)
- initial search engine optimisation (SEO)
- search engine and directory submission
- implementation and configuration of Google Analytics.
The Urban Water Forum web site was developed using:
grakay
A fully accessible, modern web site designed for grakay – a Maleny-based clay worker.
This website was originally developed using CMS Made Simple (CMSMS) but has recently been converted to TYPOlight, a standards-compliant Content Management System (CMS) with more features and greater flexibility.
The client has full control over all content and can edit individual pages and navigation menus using the administration features of the CMS.
The grakay web site was developed using:
Toyota Car Club
A small web site designed and developed for the Toyota Car Club of Queensland (TCCQ). The TCCQ site was developed to provide club members with an up-to-date source of information about club activities.
I developed this web site design as an exercise in exploring the full functionality of CMS Made Simple (CMSMS) – an open source content management system (CMS) with full support for XHTML templates.
Designated club members have full control over all content and can edit individual pages and navigation menus using the administration features of the CMS.
The TCCQ web site was developed using:
Print and Web Services
A dynamic web site developed as an assessment item during Michaela’s postgraduate study. The PaWS site is based on the business requirements of a fictional company.
The completed PaWS web site is hosted on a Queensland University of Technology web server and will remain available for an indefinite period.
To access the clients section of the site, login using monty@springfieldpower.com.au as the email address and mrburns as the password.
The PaWS web site was developed using:
- Microsoft’s IIS Web Server
- ASP.NET (using Visual Basic as the scripting language)
- JavaScript for client-side scripting
- cookies for session tracking
- Microsoft Access for the back-end database
- XHTML for semantic markup
- CSS2 for formatting and layout.
