intranet applications
Following are examples of some of the intranet-based applications completed by m'khala.
Note: it is not possible to provide links to live examples of these applications (since they are intranet-based), however a number of screenshots and descriptions have been supplied.
Policy Register administration
An application that allows users to publish multi-page documents in both HTML and PDF format, as well as insert metadata into a database, by uploading a single XML document.
The user creates their document using a customised Microsoft Word template that automatically converts the document to XML.
The Policy Register administration system was developed using:
- Microsoft Word with VBA on Microsoft Windows XP
- Apache Web Server on Sun Solaris 8 (SPARC)
- PHP for server-side scripting and workflow specification
- miniSQL for the back-end database
- XML for data transfer
- Apache Xalan for XSLT processing
- Apache FOP for XSL-FO processing
- JavaScript for client-side scripting
- XHTML for semantic markup
- CSS2 for formatting and layout
Insite indexes
A series of dynamic content indexes developed for the Department of Natural Resources and Mines intranet – Insite.
The indexes are designed to help staff members find relevant information on an intranet that contains thousands of web pages and other resources.
The Insite indexes were developed using:
- PHP for server-side scripting
- miniSQL for the back-end database
- JavaScript for client-side scripting
- XHTML for semantic markup
- CSS2 for formatting and layout
